Spaniard suffered a high-speed crash on Monday at the Brno Test and will sit out the action in Spielberg

Following the Turn 1 accident that happened on Monday at the Brno Test, Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar) will not take part in this weekend’s myWorld Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich.

The Spaniard endured a high-speed accident last while testing at the Automotodrom Brno. The rookie required trackside assistance before being transported to the circuit’s Medical Centre, where he was diagnosed with no major injuries, except for a pulmonary contusion that required him to transported by helicopter to the Brno Hospital. Mir underwent further checks by the doctors, who confirmed the initial diagnosis. He was kept in hospital under observation, and finally will be released.

Given his current condition, Team Suzuki Ecsta,  together with Mir, decided not to take any risks, preferring to allow time for rest and recovery instead of trying to take part in the Austrian GP. This means Alex Rins will be the sole Suzuki representative in Spielberg this weekend, with Mir expected to be back in action at Silverstone later this month.
