The three versions shown ran, respectively, from:

  • 1981 – 2002

  • 2004 – 2005

  • 2007 – Present

See /u/icelad’s comment for more detail on additional bus stop changes

It occurs to me I that I should have included this in the video

level 2

Not quite correct; in 2002 the second part of the chicane was opened up and the pitlane entry moved

– 2001

2002/03

  • 2000 – legendary!

  • 2005 – still kinda cool I guess

  • 2017 – nope..

level 2

It went from legitimately cool and somewhat unique corner, to fairly bland massive braking zone chicane.

level 2

I really disagree. The current corner is very cool but also very risky for overtaking. Also the elevation change at low speeds makes accelerating out of the corner a lot trickier due to the fact that there’s less downforce at those speeds and traction up a hill is a lot worse. The high inside kerb is also very unforgiving.

Loved that 2000 Busstop in the F1 games. really fast, throwing the car from left to right. Similair to the chicane on top of the hill in Imola.

level 2

I would love if they added legacy tracks to the newer games and some legacy versions of current tracks too.

I sometimes think about cracking out an emulator to play the old ones!

level 1

First one was the best. Current one the worst.

level 2

I like it because it’s similar to daytona

level 1

1st video – this is fast. 2nd video – holy shit it’s fast. 3rd video – gp2!

level 1

The current layout is a fucking catastrophe relative to the rest of the track

level 1

They literally butchered an iconic chicane.

level 1

Why did they ever change the old version? That was the best, seems F1 like to screw up a good recipe at times. The current chicane is a real pig of a corner.

level 2

So they could extend the pit lane and main straight, and probably to give a better overtaking opportunity with the larger breaking zone.

level 2

While for viewers high speeds are awesome, most race tracks focus on slowing things down.

level 2

The first one was bad for overtaking as drivers would go through it as basically one straight line. So there was very little possibility for overtaking. A proper chicane forces left to right turn and drivers side by side can battle it out better.

level 2

So Ferrari has a chance 🙁
