About half an hour before the end of training, Lewis Hamilton is on the curb at the exit 004. bend lost control of the rear of his Mercedes and collapsed violently into a guardrail. Sergio Perez [Racing Point] reached sixth, while Lewis Hamilton finished seventh in training. The two Alfa Romeo racers Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi came in behind the Briton, with Pierre Gasly [Toro Rosso] top ten.
