After the end of the second free training session before the Belgian GP race, an unlucky event occurred in the paddock of the track at Spa Francorchamps when Kimmy Raikkonen was attacked by one of the Red Bull fans.
A fan wearing a Red Bull racing cap approached Kimmy Raikkonen after the second training session, pushed him away and threatened him. Former racer and FIE commissioner Mika Salo intervened in the incident, who defended his countryman and prevented the abuser from continuing his work.
Raikkonen described the details of the event in an interview with Dutch Ziggo Sport:
'He was quite drunk and started to wrap his arms around him. He approached me, lifted my glasses, and then pushed me away. I told him, 'What the hell are you doing?', But it was obvious he wasn't exactly ghostly. Fortunately, everything went smoothly. ”
