Red Bull's Chief Advisor Dr Helmut Marko is convinced that the Red Bulls team made a strategic mistake when it didn't bring Lewis Hamilton back in the season 2012 moved from Mercedes to Mercedes.
Marko revealed that he 2012 was also in talks with Lewis Hamilton, who wanted to leave Mclaren, but at the Red Bull, for whom Sebastian Vettel was racing at the time, they have not decided to end their talks with the British.
Helmut Marko told Motorsport-Total:
“Lewis was not pleased with McLarn, but we were not available. I thought it would be better to race for Mercedes since Mclaren was our main competitor at the time. As a result, I supported Niki Lauda, who wanted to bring Lewis to Mercedes. We now know that it would be better if we stayed with McLarn, and of course we made a strategic mistake at the time. “
