steiner:-wehrlein-offered-himself-to-me,-but-i-refused

Haas team boss Guenther Steiner has revealed that he was approached by Ferrari's reserve racer Pascal Wehrlein during a racing weekend in Monza and offered him his racing services for the season 2020. Steiner, who immediately rejected the German racer, confirmed that only Romain Grosjean and Nico Hulkenberg were candidates for the US team seat.

While Kevin Magnussen has already secured a seat for the season 2020, Haas will select another runner between Romain Grosjean and Nic Hulkenberg. Steiner claimed that the decision would be taken before the Singapore race, but also revealed that he had also asked Pascal Wehrlein, who currently serves as a test driver for the Ferrari team, for a vacant seat.

“We were approached in Monza by Wehrlein, who was interested in his chances of racing for our team next year. I told him that I had no chance, since I have not been racing in Formula One for two years. We need a racer who has a lot of experience and in F1 racing for many years. Grosjan and Hulkenberg remain in the competition and the decision will be made by Singapore. ”
