Team Hansen MJP’s Timmy Hansen struck back after a difficult day one at the Neste World RX of Latvia yesterday to win Q3 Race 1 in wet conditions on Sunday morning in round nine of the FIA World Rallycross Championship and set the quickest time.

Hansen took the hole shot in race 1 and beat GC Kompetition’s Guerlain Chicherit to the finish line, Chicherit ended Q3 in P3, behind race 3 winner Reinis Nitiss. France’s Chicherit started in the first race of the session after being disqualified from Q2 for ‘pushing the launch button when the car was in motion.’

EKS Sport’s Krisztian Szabo took the hole shot in Q3 race 2 and won in front of Team STARD’s Janis Baumanis to take P4 in the Q3 times, as GRX Taneco’s Nitiss moved around the outside of turn 1 to lead race 3 and win in front of Monster Energy RX Cartel’s Andreas Bakkerud. The Audi S1 driver dropped to P5 at turn one but used a strong joker lap strategy to climb to P2 just behind Nitiss and be P5 in the session. GCK’s Rokas Bakiuska, the overnight TQ (top qualifier), was left on the start line in Q3 race 4 and was P15 in the session and dropped to P2 in the Intermediate Classification, with World RX Drivers’ Championship leader Bakkerud moving into the TQ position.

GRX’s Timur Timerzyanov won Q3 race 4, but team mate Niclas Gronholm had to take two joker laps after jumping the start. In the wet track conditions, Timerzyanov and Monster Energy RX Cartel’s Liam Doran both spun after the finish line.
