Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has revealed that Mercedes will prevent his spare racer Esteban Ocon from being removed from his garage, as the Frenchman could pass on confidential information about the Mercedes car to his new Renault team.
After leaving the season, Esteban Ocon leaves Mercedes and moves to the French Renault, where the young racer will replace Nice Hulkenberg.
Although Ocon has a contract with Mercedes until the end of the season, team boss Toto Wolff has revealed that his backup racer will be relieved of his duties early in the camp.
Wolff told the F1 official site:
Esteban and I talked to him when he was to perform his duties on the team and I told him that the longer he stayed, the more information he could transfer to Renault. He replied, 'Of course I will take all the information with me to Renault.' So we decided to withdraw it from all meetings and meetings involving the development of the car for the coming season, and its tasks will be exclusively related to areas not involving our secrets.
