Suzi Perry spoke to Marc and Alex Marquez about the latter’s excellent season in Moto2™ before their home GP

Ahead of their home Grand Prix at the Gran Premio Michelin® de Aragon, BT Sport presenter Suzi Perry sat down with Marc and Alex Marquez to chat about Alex’s excellent season in the Moto2™ class.

First, the younger Marquez brother explains his “really good season” and why there is still plenty of work to be done: “It’s been a good season. A really good season, we have made some really good steps but now we have a situation where I need to push again,” comments EG 0,0 Marc VDS’ Marquez.

Ahead of the Marquez brothers’ (third) home GP, the British broadcaster got all the details on what it’s like to race the world as brothers

“For sure I need to win some races from here to the end if I want to win the championship. But we’re coming to tracks where I think I can be stronger, especially during the race. So you know, it’s a gap we need to keep… (Marc: you speak a lot eh?)… But our opponents will, this is nice, it’s a world championship, and everybody pushes.”

Suzi Perry then asks Marc why it’s taken his brother five years to push for an intermediate class World Championship: “It’s difficult to say one thing but if you want to win a championship, it’s not necessary to be the fastest one sometimes. But you need to have everything with a good compromise. And yeah he took his time but the problem is, he can take his time, but the problem is the people always compare him against me, against the brother.

“And this, some people say, is an advantage, but it’s a disadvantage. Because in the end, every rider has his time, every rider has his career, riding style and yeah, in the end he’s still young. But now it looks like he’s found the correct way with the team.”
