New global licensing agreement set to take MotoGP™ digital presence to new heights.

Dorna Sports is proud to announce a global licensing agreement with Animoca Brands that will see the company develop and publish the official blockchain manager game of MotoGP™ with its associated digital collectibles.

Animoca Brands will produce a ‘manager style’ game based on MotoGP™ intellectual property consisting of a selection of collectibles which will be linked directly to the core gameplay. The Manager Game will utilise blockchain technologies and custom-developed smart contracts to enable users to manage the game. The game is expected to launch by the start of the 2020 MotoGP™ racing season.

Animoca Brands is already a leader in the space of blockchain application for major sports brands, particularly in the area of motorsport. Based in Hong Kong, Canada, Finland, and Argentina, the company leverages gamification, blockchain and artificial intelligence technologies to develop and publish a broad portfolio of products, as well as products based on popular intellectual properties such as Formula 1 and now, MotoGP™. The agreement with Dorna Sports grants Animoca Brands worldwide rights and covers multiple platforms.

Yat Siu, co-founder and chairman of Animoca Brands, said: “We are honoured to work with MotoGP, the undisputed leader among motorcycle racing brands, and we look forward to bringing to blockchain the excitement and thrill of the world’s most popular motorcycle races. With both MotoGP and Formula 1 as partners, Animoca Brands has established a solid foothold in two- and four-wheeled motorsports.”

Pau Serracanta, Managing Director at Dorna Sports, said: “I’m delighted to announce this agreement and to continue evolving our involvement in blockchain technology. The digital world is one of opportunity and I’m proud to see MotoGP further cemented as a forward-thinking and innovative brand, at the same time as giving fans another way to engage with our sport and get the most from their passion for Grand Prix motorcycle racing.”
