I genuinely believe that Brawn never intended to go full on with the standard parts. He knew that the teams would push back, so what we’ll end up with is roughly in line with what he’s always wanted, but the teams will see it as a compromise.

level 2

Honestly you can easily see the fia is negotiating when they start announcing weird new rules and regs they just throw it all at the wall and hope by the end the teams go ‘well it could have been worse’

I am not a fan of this. Teams should have liberty to do their own research and innovate. I believe that a budget cap is more in line in order to balance the grid.

Seriously, how much of a performance differentiator are the brakes?

level 2

Definitely, I’d rather see a grid like we have today than a spec series. I can do watch IndyCar if that’s what I was interested in.

Is this possibly a sign of the teams having enough power to push back against cost-saving measures and effectively write the rulebook? If this power shows on the 2021 rules, don’t expect anything game-changing or increasing parity.
