Lewis Hamilton, who won second place in the qualifying round for the Russian Grand Prix, admitted that he had no chance of pole position this time, as Ferrari was simply too fast on the Sochi straights.

The current world champion was behind the fastest Charles Leclerc by more than four tenths, nevertheless Hamilton is pleased with the second place, having managed to outrun at least one Ferrari racer.

Hamilton admitted by qualifications that he had no chance against Leclerc this time around.

If some have argued that Mercedes uses “party mode”, then Ferrari has “jet mode”. Their speed on the straights is simply amazing, as we only lost half a second in the first sector. In the end, I did everything I could, but that was not enough today. Nevertheless, we can be pleased to split both Ferrari’s, and the second place is a good starting point for an attack.
