(Motorsport-Total.com) – Ferrari has found the cause of the defect in Sebastian Vettel in Sochi: “We had a Direct on the hybrid side of the Energy Unit,” says team boss Mattia Binotto. “We lost the insulation in the car and for safety reasons we had to stop the car immediately.”
That means that Vettel's car was under power. Normally this does not present any danger to the driver, but when getting out there is a risk of electric shock if the driver touches both the car and the ground at the same time. That's why Vettel jumped out of the car after his exit, instead of droping out novel.
Until the pit lane it would not have been far, but Vettel should park his car as fast as possible.
