Longtime F1 boss of Benetton and Renault teams, Flavio Briatore is convinced that Fernando Alonso would defeat Lewis Hamilton in the offseason 2018 and become world champion.
Last season, after half a year, Sebastian Vettel led in the World Cup totals, then the German earned a series of mistakes, which was exploited by Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton.
Briatore is convinced that the story would have been completely different if Fernando Alonso were still sitting behind the wheel of Ferrari.
A racer can make a difference. I'm sure Alonso would become world champion with Ferrari last year, as he would have made a lot less mistakes than Vettel. That is the kind of mistake that can make the championship, which is why Lewis Hamilton is so successful that he can afford very little slippage.
