pirelli-critical-set-apart-f1:-tire-tire-graphics-is-misleading

The official tire supplier in Formula 1, the Italian Pirelli, is a critical set of apart-graphical rendering of tire wear that F1 premiered in a previous race in Japan. Pirelli warns that the information viewed by viewers on TV screens may be incorrect or misleading.

Formula One boss Pirelli Mario Isola reveals that the data does not come directly from the Italian gummaker, wondering if System 1 can authentically display tire wear data.

Before the race in Mexico, Isola said:

“I was surprised to see this graphic, as the data does not come from us. Calculating tire wear is a very complex thing, as there are many different factors to consider. Their calculations are based on Friday's free workouts, while the race temperature may be significantly different in the race. We fear that such information can be misleading and incorrect. Percentage tire wear is impossible to estimate in this way, and I think their data is incorrect. “
