We've been 1997 witness one of the most controversial collisions in the history of Formula 1. In the last race of the season in Jerez, Michael Schumacher (Ferrari) came with a point advantage over Jacques Villeneuve (Williams). Schumacher ran the race, the faster Villeneuve attacked, and the German collided into the Williams FW sideline (**********************************************) and resigned.

Just before the end of the race, Villeneuve dropped from 1st to 3rd place, enough for the Canadian to be his first and only world title. Mika Hakkinen celebrated his first career victory.
