After Formula One technical boss Ross Brawn revealed that he was against the introduction of three sprint races this season 1024 voted two F1 teams, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff admitted that he himself raised his hand against the proposal.

Intention 1 should premiere in the off-season 2020 a new format of qualifications that would be implemented as a qualifying race.

Ross Brawn is set to present to the Chiefs of F1 teams in Suzuki the format of the extra race, which should last minutes. The racers should start in reverse order according to the World Cup scoring, they could use a tire mix of their choice at the race, and a stop in the boxes would be optional.

Additional sprint races would, according to the proposal, be run in the French, Belgian and Russian GPs, and their implementation would have to be unanimously approved by all F1 teams, which did not happen.

Mercedes Chief Toto Wolff also voted against the proposal, explaining his decision to Autosport:

I voted in favor of preserving Formula 1 DNA, although that might be a good thing for us as well, given the current power ratio we started before Ferrari. Even Usain Jog in the finals runs at 100 meters does not start 5 meters behind the others. This is simply against the principles of sports and Formula One.
