Valtteri Bottas took the pole position with Austin Mercedes after a long run, which also pleased his boss Tot Wolff, who is pleased that the Silver Arrows team has finally been able to defeat Ferrari.
Mercedes last succeeded in July, when Lewis Hamilton started the race for the German GP from the best starting position. Ferrari claimed a series of seven qualifying wins after the summer break, and Wolff is pleased to see Mercedes return to first place.
