briatore:-no-one-but-me-believed-in-schumacher

Former Benetton and Renault team boss Flavio Briatore has revealed that he himself was one of the few to believe that Schumacher was ready to make the switch to Germany's inaugural season 1991 the Benetton team.

Schumacher later brought 19 from 27. Benetton's Formula One victories and won two World Cup titles in 1994 and 1995.

Briatore revealed that Schumacher would almost stay outside Benetton's door, as almost no one believed in him.

At the time, no one was quite sure of Michael's abilities. Everyone was saying that he was not good enough, that he was too young, etc., but I was convinced that this was something we needed to do. I sent him a contract and we signed at three or four in the morning. Michael was an outstanding racer. If there was ever a command on a car, he tried to save it. Now the racers would simply say that the car is sr ****.
