Former racer Timo Glock still remembers the events of ten years ago when he was overtaken by Lewis Hamilton in the last meters of the Brazilian GP, winning his first world title.
The German who 2008 raced for Toyota became a major actor in dramatic showdown for the title of Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa. Despite the heavy downpour, Toyota did not decide to change the tires at the end of the race, and as a result, Hamilton Glock overtook the last corner, enough to defeat the home fan Felipe Masso by one point.
Glock, who faced serious allegations of intentionally helping Hamilton after the race ended, revealed to ESPN that he was even threatened with death because of the incident.
“I remember that Italian journalists, in particular, were very aggressive. I was told I did it on purpose, or that Mclaren and Lewis even paid me. I do not know how they could have come up with such a stupid idea, because we could not have planned that it would pour heavily before the end. The thing went so far that certain people sent letters to my family about how I should be shot. It was pretty extreme and I couldn't believe how bad people can be. “
