Valtteri Bottas reveals that he has a secret plan for how he 2020 will finally beat the team colleague Lewis Hamilton, but stresses that he does not intend to go into the psychological games with the six-time world champion.
Bottas is about to finish his third season behind the wheel of a Mercedes this year, and Finn has not yet managed to seriously threaten his team-mate Lewis Hamilton, who has won just as many titles in the last three years.
Asked if Upright would have won a psychological battle with Hamilton, as his predecessor Nico Rosberg did, he is Bottas replied: “To be honest, I am a little bored with this question, as each driver is individual. I'm not Nico Rosberg.
“I certainly have plans to find different ways to achieve my goal, that is, to win the title. This means defeating my team mate as well as many other drivers.
I've always preferred to talk on the track and if I stay focused I have good chances. If I start to lose energy elsewhere, I will probably have problems.
If I can get to the level I want, it usually pisses off the other side of the garage a bit, which can lead to Hamilton making mistakes.
I have a plan for next year, but I'm not ready to share it yet. “
Bottas says he is motivated by the progress he has made in improving his weaknesses this year.
“Overall, this is my best season in Formula 1. I am certainly not completely satisfied as I have had some racing happen mistakes. That's something I want to fix before next season. “
