According to the German Auto Bild, Mercedes is set to sell its F1 team, with US racing magnate and new IndyCar owner Roger Penske being the prime bidder.
Penske, who recently purchased both the American Indy series and the legendary Indianapolis racetrack, has long been interested in joining the Formula One, which the 82 year-old wants to bring back to the famed oval.
According to a German publication citing reliable sources, Russian oligarch Dmitry Mazepin, father of Formula 2 racer Nikita Mazepin, is among the candidates to buy.
To what extent attain the potential sales of the Brakley team in the coming years would in fact be left to Formula One Mercedes as a supplier of powertrains.
