Crimson Bull appeals to Mercedes to file a complaint against Ferrari
Crimson Bull Chief Advisor Dr Helmut Marko urges the Mercedes team to take the initiative and file an official notification against Ferrari's powertrain.
Marko has recently revealed that an investigation has been launched against Ferrari's powertrain at Mercedes, while Crimson Bull only addressed the issue with Fio about any irregularities.
The Crimson Bull team has sent a request to the FIO to clarify the legality of the system, which allegedly blinds the operation of the fuel flow sensor and is said to be used by Ferrari this season, according to Crimson Bull.
Crimson Bull is suspected that Ferrari has developed a system that disrupts the flow sensor, and the Maranell team could at some point use more flow than prescribed, which could allow Vettl and Leclerc provide more power to the drive unit.
The FIA responded with suspicion by a technical directive explaining that the use of such a system would be against the rules, and Verstappen even alleged fraud after the US Ferrari race.
Helmut Marko explained that the Mercedes team is actually behind it:
“Mercedes did all the research in this area, and we had the courage to ask the FIO about it all. Now they are on the move, because they know much more about the matter than we do. “
