Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto is pleased that Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton will be available after the end of the season 2020 to negotiate a possible transfer to any of the other teams.
The current six-time world champion contract with Mercedes expires at the end of the year 2020, and although he said he is very attached to Mercedes, the Briton did not rule out the possibility of transferring to any of the other teams.
Valtteri Bottas, Sebastian Vettl and Max Verstappen also expire before the season 2020, and consequently major shifts in the racing market are possible.
Asked if Ferrari would sign a contract with Hamilton, if available, Binotto said:
“Lewis is definitely an exceptional driver, a fantastic driver. The fact that pre-season 2021 will be available can only make us happy. Nevertheless, it is too early to make any decisions. We will certainly come to attain points when we have to decide, but at the moment we are happy with our racing lineup. “
