palmer:-verstappen-is-the-best-runner-of-the-season

Former BBC BBC racer and columnist Jolyon Palmer has named five racers who, according to him, have shown their best performances this season and not world champion Lewis Hamilton in the first place.

With a dominant performance this season, Hamilton secured his sixth world title, separating him from Michael Schumacher's record.

However, Palmer believes Max Verstappen has shown his best racing this season, with Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez in the list alongside the Dutch and Hamilton.

Palmer made his choice in a BBC column:

“In terms of choosing the best driver of the season, Hamilton and Verstappen were practically aligned. Hamilton won the championship, but if upright to pick just one, I would say Verstappen was a little over. “

“His relentless pace and constant high level caused teammate Pierre Gasly to leave Crimson Bull in Toro Rosso during the summer break.

“And now there is increasing pressure on Alex Albon, Gasly's replacement, as Crimson Bull is desperately looking for someone who can race somewhere near Verstapp's level.”

The only major mistake he could afford was the one in Mexico when he wasted pole space for ignoring the yellow flag.

Sainz is another racer who has had a remarkable year and managed to take sixth place in the championship with Nico Hulkenberg's brilliant passing in Abu Dhabi, “explained the Briton.

He did both with Gasly and Albon, though they both spent half the season in the much faster Crimson Bull, which is really impressive. ”
