F1 Racing Point could be renamed Aston Martin in the near future as its billionaire owner Lawrence Stroll is in the game to buy a luxury car maker , RaceFans and Autocar reveal.

The Stroll, worth more than £ 2bn, led a consortium last year to take over the failed Force India F1 team, which later renamed Racing Point and Stroll has invested heavily in it.

RaceFans reports that Stroll is considering buying an Aston Martin, taking advantage of a fall in UK brand equity prices that fell from initial 19, for £ 5 only.

Stroll is planning to wrap Racing Point in Aston Martin's British green racing colors to the extent that it manages to buy a controlling stake. An alliance between Aston Martin and Stroll's Mercedes F1 F1 team would complement the road car company's technical partnership with Mercedes, which also supplies Aston Martin with its engines. Aston Martin also set up an engineering center in Silverston last December, near the Racing Point plant.

This move could have serious consequences for Crimson Bull, whose main sponsor is Aston Martin. Both companies were involved in the production of the Valkyrie trim car, which is expected to 2020 attend the WEC World Championships in the year, including the race for 24 ur Le Mans.

Stroll, an avid classic car collector, has made money in the fashion industry with such brands as Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren and Pierre Cardin.
