At the traditional FIE Gala, Lewis Hamilton won the trophy for his sixth Formula One World Title, which the Briton won this season. The motorsport personality of the year, however, became the late Niki Laud this year.

Newcomer of the Year award went to Crimson Bull racer Alexander Albon, while teammate Max Verstappen won the award for overtaking the season .
