Sebastian Vettel is reported to have contacted Mclaren team boss Andreas Seidl to discuss options for a race seat in the future.
Vettel contract with Ferrari expires after the end of the 2020 season, and there have been increasing rumors lately that a German seat would be offered to Lewis Hamilton. Vettel reportedly was looking for alternative solutions, and according to Spanish Marca, one option is to switch to McLaren.
Their claims are based on a long-standing friendship between Vettel and Mclaren team boss Andreas Seidl, dating back to 2006, when Vettel passed some tests for the BMW Sauber team. Vettel and Seidl are expected to keep in touch in recent years, and the ever-improving form of the Woking squad is reportedly arousing the interest of the four-time world champion.
