The fourth round of the Formula E season took place for the first time on the newly designed Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez Circuit. The Mexican motorsport followers transformed the racetrack and the e-village into a sea of colors, sounds and excitement.
Buemi in the Nissan racing car with the starting number 23 got off to a good start: With a quick lap, the Swiss secured a strong fourth place in the qualifying round called Spacious Pole. During the subsequent race marked by minor collisions and contacts battle, Buemi was able to avoid incidents and used the “Attack” mode with additional Energy colorful. After he even battled situation two on the way, he saw the black and white checkered flag as third.
Also Oliver Rowland in the racing car # 22 cut a fine figure and drove from 12th to 7th place. The reward: six valuable points for the championship.
“It's great that our drivers here in Mexico City have finished in the top ten. Because of their pace and tireless commitment, this is more than deserved, ”says Michael Carcamo, Nissan's global motorsport director. “Sebastian's hard-fought podium feels like a balancing justice for all the opportunities that we left behind last season.”
It continues in Marrakech, Morocco, at the end of the month: after the fifth round of the season in Formula E, official test drives will also take place there. Japanese replacement and test driver Mitsunori Takaboshi and British simulation driver Jann Mardenborough will participate for Nissan e.dams.
“The drivers did a great job here in Mexico and used the speed and consistency of the car to avoid incidents, make up places and bring home many championship points. I am proud of our workers today and we are looking forward to the next run in Marrakech with new energy, ”adds Nissan e.dams team boss Olivier Driot.
