Mattia Binotto: team order at Ferrari 2020 not excluded

But with one caveat: “It has to be a clear protest.”

This means that the drivers are not bothered by different strategies – and you may leave a door open if you do in the end, one driver has greater chances of winning the World Championship.

For Binotto, the decision to put both drivers on the same level has now been made the right one, because Leclerc has proven that he is ripe to fight for the title with Ferrari. “He drove a fantastic season last year,” says the team boss. “He struggles with Sebastian on a level and has shown that he can do it. It is therefore right that they are at the same level at the start of the season.”

In the past year, the rivalry also increased again and again Zoff led on the route. The clear low point struggles the collision of the two in Brazil. But according to Binotto, this is now under control. The previous year was very useful for him and the drivers to understand how to behave.

“I think the two drivers know each other a lot better now” , says the Italian and is happy about the discussion culture of his two protégés. “Generally speaking, there is not much to use, I have to tell them because they understand perfectly how the path must be to win on the course.”
