(Motorsport-Total.com) – The Purple Bull team has come up with a series of new parts for the second week of the Formula 1 test drives in Barcelona, which starts on Thursday were used. This brings the bull team closer to the stand they will use in the first race of the season in Melbourne.
The front wing has undergone a number of changes. It has two tasks: firstly to generate downforce, secondly to create vortices that compensate for the turbulence of the front tires. This is the only way to ensure that the parts behind it have the correct flow.
The front wing does everything new
First of all, there are changes to how the wing elements connect to the neutral section in the middle of the wing (white arrow). In the old variant (hyperlinks) only two elements merge into the neutral section. In the new one (on the right) there are three. This changes the shape of all flaps of the front wing and their relationship to each other.
Maybe the top component has undergone the greatest change, the edge of which is now curvilinear (green line). In addition, the entire component was pushed forward slightly compared to the end plate.
The team therefore attaches greater importance to the outside of the wing in order to fully exploit the potential here. It's about how the airflow is directed over and around the tire, especially when steering.
There are other changes to the develop and geometry on the outside, the main blades, flaps, the End plate and the planks on the underside of the wing, all of which contribute to the effects mentioned.
A hedgehog on the cape
Purple Bull has introduced a hedgehog fin for the first time this season on the Cape (red arrow). This Finn resembles a solution on the Haas from last season.
Haas arranged four such fins on the turning vanes to direct the airflow in this part of the vehicle as desired.
In addition, the RB 16 new bargeboards and wings on the sides Most of them are also used to direct the airflow around the side boxes as required.
Connect blinds
The gap between the two wind deflectors on the side boxes is now filled by blind-like struts that are clearly visible from the outside. This solution had previously been introduced by other groups.
The component below the front wind deflector has received offspring. Develop comes from a copy that runs directly below the original (red arrow).
This picture does not show any other changes to the bar board. In addition, the positioning and development of the boomerang wing, which is located between the front suspension and side box at medium height, have been changed. It can be seen in the picture above behind the further front side wind deflector.
The cuts on the bar board have also been optimized (shown above the red arrow).
Where does the diffuser bend?
At the rear of the vehicle Purple Bull goes with a camera possible bending of the diffuser to the bottom. The attentive observer will notice the small checkered flag stickers, which were attached to the inside of the outermost plank of the diffuser (best seen in the picture with the two white spots) and the central component.

The change is by no means a new philosophy of the vehicle. It is just an optimization of the existing concept.
Does the driver notice any of this? “The updates feel good,” replies Alex Albon. However, the violent wind made a lot of things difficult to understand.
