(Motorsport-Total.com) – Until 2021 Jean Todt is still elected for the office of FIA President, but after that the 74 year old will definitely be over. The statutes stipulate that a FIA president may only have three terms – and the Frenchman is currently in his third.

However, there have been some examples in world political history in which such rules were abolished in times of crisis. All US presidents are elected for a maximum of eight years, but due to the Second World War Franklin D. Roosevelt not only got two terms, but was until his death 1945 elected four times.

A similar approach due to the corona crisis and the possible effects is not planned by Todt: “Even if there are many inquiries, I will not change the statutes to do more than the three terms I hope I will have, “said the Frenchman, who 2009 succeeded Max Mosley.

Until then, Todt continues to work with enthusiasm: “I love, used to be I do,” he says in an interview with 'Motorsport-Total.com'. “It is a blessing that I still have this passion and energy.”

The complete exclusive interview with FIA President Jean Todt will be published on Motorsport-Total.com on Monday.
