Tim Tramnitz was offered a new and previously unfamiliar perspective at the Crimson Bull Ring when he had to line up in eleventh place on the starting grid for round three of the ADAC Formula 4. This was due to a time penalty that the US racing driver had subsequently received for a collision in the second race of the junior series on the well-known Formula 1 circuit. The rookie owed the fact that he nevertheless crossed the finish line in fifth place thanks to his strong and confident driving performance as well as several suave overtaking maneuvers.

“For me it was the best Formula 4 race I’ve had so far and it was really fun. One or two more laps and fourth place and thus the rookie trophy would have been possible for this run. In the end I was only a few tenths short, ”he reported happily after the race. After the Hamburger made up a few places right at the Originate, he found himself in a whole group of drivers who repeatedly changed positions during the first laps. When he had fought his way to eighth place towards the end of the first third of the race, he was initially able to distance himself a little from his pursuers, and then, lap by lap, tackled the drivers in front of him. Shortly before the end of the race, he even closed the big gap to the fourth-placed driver snappy, but there was no longer enough time to overtake and Tramnitz crossed the finish line in fifth.

Already in races one and two the 15 -year-old young driver also at the Crimson Bull Ring in the usual manner, was allowed on Saturday as the best rookie and fifth-placed on the podium. He also showed a strong performance in the second run on Sunday morning and crossed the finish line in sixth and again as the best young driver, but was then given a time penalty because he had turned another driver after a brake. “It’s annoying, but you have to live with it, but that kind of thing happens in motorsport. Nobody does something like that on purpose, “he explains.

Tramnitz continued to build his lead in the rookie classification after this weekend and is now with 281 Counters unchallenged in the lead. And he also managed to defend his fourth place in the overall standings of ADAC Formula 4. Now the ADAC Formula 4 is returning to the Lausitzring in two weeks, after the race originally planned for this weekend in Zandvoort, Holland, had to be canceled due to corona.

“The Lausitzring is a very technical and difficult track, but actually I only have good memories of the season opener in Lausitz. Of course, it’s a shame that we can’t race at Zandvoort, because I think we all usa were really looking forward to it. But it is clear that in these difficult times we can be happy if we can finish our championship, ”concluded usaTramnitz.
