Adding up the number of viewers who have been watching since the beginning of the quota recording 1992 have seen at least one Formula 1 race on RTL to date, you get the astronomical sum of 3, 14 Billions! In the wedding of the Schumi era, on Sunday afternoons an average of 10, 44 Millions of viewers in front of the screens – a value that is unattainable today against the background of changed user behavior and the multitude of media offers. Nevertheless: despite the lack of tension in the title fight, the average TV ratings were also in this special Corona year with a strong four million viewers. In the coming year, they will have to look for a new home beyond the payment barrier. The premier class of motorsport on free-to-air television will then be history.
