Once again Red Bull Racing had stepped on the Constructors’ podium, however once again they have fallen short and had to concede to the mighty hybrid-era powerhouse known as Mercedes. Moreover, after taking four straight wins at the start of the season, there was no doubt that 2020 is to be another year of dominance from the Brackley-based team, which ended up 254 points ahead of their most serious challengers.

However, Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz believes that the team is not yet ready to shift the attention solely on 2022 season when new regulations will kick in, but is confident that the title fight next year will be a whole lot closer.

When asked whether Verstappen and his new teammate Sergio Perez can challenge for the title, Mateschitz told Speedweek: “Yes. Next year will be a lot closer. Everyone is moving closer together. We are getting closer to Mercedes but McLaren, Aston Martin, Alpine (formerly known as Renault) are also getting closer to us.”

Iconic Didi remains confident although the regulations for next year remain largely static: “We need two strong drivers next year, Perez is one of the best in terms of performance and has never had a chance in a car like ours. He deserved this chance.” added the 76-year-old Austrian businessman.
