After the worst Ferrari season in about forty years, Mattia Binotto and his team will have to wor a miracle to succeed in 2021. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the team will follow Red Bull’s philosophy.
“The internal part of the suspension, chassis and cooling are parts that should be similar to the 2020 design and should be transferred to the new car.” Says the editor of the popular Italian newspaper Paolo Filisetti. However, aerodynamically, the team will follow Adrian Newey’s RB16: “In terms of change in aerodynamics, we are seeing a thinner front end on the SF21. In terms of cooling, the bodywork will be thinner. This accentuated curvature tells Ferrari will follow the Red Bull philosophy”.
Besides front wing aerodynamic changes, the regulations demand that a diffuser is five centimetres higher than on the last year’s car, the problem that Maranello based team has, according to Filisetti, already largely solved: “Ferrari plans to use a solution similar to the one at the end of 2020, with an emphasis on the centre of the diffuser”.
