After the postponement of Australian Grand Prix all the way to November, Bahrain inherited the opening race of the season. However, it seems now that Bahrain will also host pre-season testing in order to limit financial troubles and limit travelling of the team’s personnel.

Formula 1 pre-season testing is scheduled for a later date: March 12-14. Initially, Bahrain has been a contender all the way, but Formula 1 decided against it for its usual venue in Catalunya at the beginning of March.

There are pros and cons to this change, it gives teams more time to prepare for the test itself, and comes with certain logistical benefits such as materials and people being able to stay in Bahrain before the first race. However, flying replacement parts will prove to be difficult as all the teams are based, to some extent, in either UK or Italy.
