Before the race in Mexico, Lewis Hamilton called for more respect in radio conversations after Max Verstappen called him a “stupid idiot” in Austin.
Candidates for this year’s world title, they got involved in a minor incident at their second free practice in Austin.
Both racers were preparing for their fast lap, and Verstappen only had to give it up after Hamilton overtook him in the last corner.
The Dutchman was anything but enthusiastic about his rival’s behavior and described him as a stupid idiot on the radio.
Before the race in Mexico, Hamilton expressed the belief that racers should refrain from making such statements in their radio conversations.
“I’ve been here a long time, this isn’t my first rodeo. I think respect must be at the heart of it all. When I think and hear things coming from the mouths of drivers, I find this inappropriate already because of the children who often take us as role models. A lot has been said, which is definitely not good for young children watching. ”
