The Red Bull team have officially confirmed that Alexander Albon will replace Pierre Gasly in the next race at Spa Francorchamps, while the French racer will return to Toro Rosso.
Pierre Gasly replaced Daniel Ricciardo in the Red Bulls’ first team this season, and the Frenchman did not find himself in the first half of the season and was no match for teammate Max Verstappen.
The Red Bull team has thus decided to replace Alexander Albon at the next race at Spa Francorchamps, while Gasly returns to Toro Rosso to join Daniel Kvyat.
Red Bull has officially confirmed the change to their racers on their website:
We are pleased to welcome Alexander Albon, who will be racing for Red Bull with Max Verstappen by the end of the season. We are in a unique position as we have four talented racers who can alternate between the Red Bull and Toro Rosso teams. In the remaining nine races, we will evaluate Albon’s readiness and based on that we will decide who will race for Red Bull this season 2020.
