Red Bull Chief Advisor Dr Helmut Marko explained the decision by the Milton Keynes team, which brought Alexander Albon into his ranks after half a season while Pierre Gasly returned to Toro Rosso.
Pierre Gasly replaced Daniel Ricciard in the Red Bulls first season this season, but the Frenchman did not find himself in the first half of the season and was no match for teammate Max Verstappen.
The Red Bull team has thus decided to replace Alexander Albon at the next race at Spa Francorchamps, while Gasly returns to Toro Rosso to join Daniel Kvyat.
Helmut Marko explained why Red Bull decided to replace him in the middle of the season:
The albon race is great and this year everything has been pulled out of the car. Gasly had major problems with overtaking. He usually lost a lot of places at the start, which he then couldn't get back. He will now return to Toro Rosso, and after the end of the season, we will decide who will race for Red Bull 2020 with Max.
