Repsol Honda Team Manager Alberto Puig chats about the five-time World Champion returning to action at the British GP
After crashing on Friday in Assen, Repsol Honda Team’s Jorge Lorenzo was forced to sit out the Dutch GP, German GP and the Austrian GP, but the five-time World Champion will be returning to action at the GoPro British Grand Prix in less than two weeks’ time.
When will Lorenzo be back in Repsol Honda? 11/08/2019
The Team Manager gives his verdict on the Austrian GP and an update on Lorenzo’s condition as well as putting some of the rumours to rest
“We are looking forward to seeing Jorge Lorenzo in Silverstone, we expect and we hope he is ok from a physical point of view after his injury,” commented Puig. “We understand that he won’t be at his 100 percent. After a long injury like his and not riding the bike for two months, it is difficult to find the speed. We want him to come back with motivation to ride again, to be part of the team, to give us feedback and move forward.”
Lorenzo has three victories to his name at the Northamptonshire layout, with his last podium coming at Silverstone in the form of a second place in 2014. Although a podium challenge seems very unlikely, it’s a track Lorenzo likes, so a solid point-scoring ride on his return certainly isn’t out of the picture.
