Mclaren unexpectedly announced the arrival of an open two-seater at Monterey Car Week, which will stand alongside McLaren's elite Senna and GTR models.

The yet-to-be-named super roadster is set to premiere in about 18 months, and will feature McLaren Senna's twin-turbo engine, but without the hybrid component.

Some details about the new McLarn super sportsman were revealed by Head of the Automobile Division Mike Flewitt:

“Demand for exclusive high-tech vehicles is higher than ever. At McLarn, we wanted to offer customers something different than just a reworked version of the Senna and Speedtail models. We came up with the idea to develop an open two-seater that will push boundaries in its category. This time it will not be a hybrid, as we have found that the weight of the hybrid component would be too great. It's going to be a really special car. “
