“it’s-good-to-be-back”-–-lorenzo-ahead-of-silverstone-return

After missing the last few rounds following an injury at Assen, the five-time World Champion is back in the Repsol Honda garage this weekend

Repsol Honda Team will be back at full strength this weekend at the GoPro British Grand Prix when the number 99 of Jorge Lorenzo returns to the garage following an eight-week injury absence, rejoining MotoGP™ World Championship leader Marc Marquez.

The five-time World Champion has been working hard on his recovery following a crash during Free Practice at the Dutch TT. Lorenzo suffered a stable fracture to the T6 vertebrae as well as a trabecular fracture in the T8 vertebrae.

Repsol Honda rider was already suffering after a crash at the Catalunya test so has gone to the medical centre for checks after this one

However, he returns to Grand Prix action in Great Britain this weekend with the aim of continuing his improvement and adaptation to the RC213V. Silverstone is a circuit the Repsol Honda rider has often performed well at, with three victories to his name, coming in 2010, 2012 and 2013, plus a pole position from last year.

“It is very good to be back with the Repsol Honda Team, it has been a long time since Assen. I would have liked to have been back sooner, but the nature of the injury meant I had to take my time.

“While away from the track, I have been working hard to be as ready as possible for Silverstone, but I know it will take some time to get back up to speed. I am pleased and ready to be back with the team so we can keep improving and get the results we know we can achieve.”

The first chance to hear from Lorenzo on his return to the MotoGP™ paddock will be in Thursday’s pre-British Grand Prix Press Conference before the number 99 is seen back out on track in Friday’s FP1, which gets underway at 09:00 local time (GMT 1).
