“Nothing gives you more confidence than a win” – Dovizioso

“There is nothing that gives you more confidence than a victory” according to Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team); and who would argue against him? Especially after a victory like the one we saw in Spielberg. It seems unfair to put the Austrian Grand Prix down as just 25 points, you get the feeling so-much more was won in the hills of Austria.

After being second-best to Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) for the majority of the first half of the season, Austria was a clear indication that Desmo Dovi has his mojo back, and that the 2019 World Championship isn’t the done deal that some might have thought it was.

Silverstone, although not widely regarded as a Ducati circuit, is a venue that the Bologna factory have tasted victory at, as recent as 2017 when the Italian held off a Yamaha assault from Valentino Rossi and Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP).

58 points obviously still places Marquez in the driving seat of the title chase but, with two DNFs in the Spaniard’s last three British GPs, another serving of British bad luck could allow Dovizioso to well and truly reignite the Championship fight.

“There is nothing that gives you more confidence than a victory and thus we arrive at Silverstone, with very high morale. What happened in the Red Bull Ring was no accident, we worked very seriously those two consecutive weekends and the results prove us right.

“Although the characteristics of the layout are not as favourable as in Brno or Spielberg, we have already shown that in Silverstone we can be very fast, such as in 2017 that we ended up winning the race. Weather, as always, will play an important role and you have to be prepared to adapt to any circumstance.”
