Former Formula 1 racer Pastor Maldonado revealed on the official F1 podcast Beyond the Grid that he expected him to be Felipe Massa's replacement for Ferrari during the 2014 season.

The Venezuelan celebrated his only Formula 1 victory with Williams in the 2012 year, and in the aftermath of his career he was particularly famous for his many collisions.

Ferrari signed a contract with Kimi Raikkonen later 2014 and Maldonado revealed some details from that period for Beyond the Grid.

At the time, I was a new hot name in Formula One and many people wanted me in their ranks. At the time, I had a status similar to that of Max Verstappen. A lot also depended on my sponsor setting certain conditions. After individual conversations, I expected to transfer 2014 years to Ferrari, which unfortunately did not happen in the end.
