International Football Player Didier Drogba joins the #3500LIVES Global Road Safety Campaign on the occasion of the Grand Prix weekend in Monza, Italy, to raise awareness on child safety.
Aiming to address the road safety crisis killing 1.35 million people every year, the #3500LIVES Campaign, which has been displayed in over 80 countries, so far, thanks to the leading international outdoor advertising company JCDecaux, encourages all road users to adopt simple, easily applicable and efficient safety rules to save lives on the road.
With this new visual featuring Didier Drogba, the #3500LIVES Campaign will strengthen its outreach by putting more emphasis on the necessity to ensure the safety of children, who are among the most vulnerable road users. Every day, more than 3,500 people are killed and thousands more left seriously injured on the world’s roads. Among them, more than 3,000 children, often on their way to school. By calling to “Watch out for Kids”, Didier Drogba invites drivers to slow down in risk areas and school zones, and pay attention to kids at all times. He also reminds parents to make sure they don’t let their children play near the road.
The deployment of the new visual will be focused on Africa, where 44% of all road traffic deaths on the continent are cyclists and pedestrians. The Didier Drogba Foundation, the FIA Foundation and the Prudence Foundation will also contribute to spread the campaign’s message for safer roads across the region.
Didier Drogba joins the 17 personalities from the worlds of entertainment, motor racing, sport, and politics (H.S.H. Princess Charlène of Monaco, Fernando Alonso, Yohan Blake, Patrick Dempsey, Michael Fassbender, Haile Gebrselassie, Antoine Griezmann, Anne Hidalgo, Charles Leclerc, Vanessa Low, Marc Márquez, Felipe Massa, Rafael Nadal, Nico Rosberg, Wayde van Niekerk, Pharrell Williams and Michelle Yeoh) who aim to raise awareness on other key risk factors such as speed, alcohol, and seatbelts.
