After more adrenalin fuelled FIA European Truck Racing Championship battles at Circuit Zolder on Sunday it was Jochen Hahn and Antonio Albacete who celebrated hard-fought triumphs.

Under sunny skies, a large Belgian crowd watched Hahn conduct a masterclass of truck racing to dominate the third race of the weekend, while Albacete made up for some disappointment in missing out on victory in yesterday’s opening encounter to grab his second win of 2019.

Hahn didn’t have it all his own way today though after a deflating tyre in the final race saw him only able to take three points for an eighth place finish.

The reigning champion still extended his overall lead at the top of the points standings as he now has a healthy 85-point cushion over Albacete with a total of 120 points available from the remaining eight races.

The next stop on the FIA ETRC European tour will be at the Le Mans Bugatti circuit on 28/29 September.

Race 3

Jochen Hahn took his second win of the weekend at Circuit Zolder this afternoon as he converted his pole position in to another 20 point maximum score.

The Hahn Racing IVECO driver maintained his remarkable record of winning at least one race at every round so far yesterday and doubled up with a controlled display again today.

Hahn and fellow front row starter Adam Lacko both got fine getaways at the rolling start but it was Hahn who claimed the line in to turn one. From there he was never headed over the 12-lap race and executed his familiar power slide exiting the final corner to savour the win by an impressive 7.7 seconds.

Lacko was a comfortable second claiming his second podium position of the weekend for the Buggyra Racing squad.

Completing the podium was Norbert Kiss in his Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz challenger. The Hungarian came under some pressure from Steffi Halm but there was no way through for the Team Schwabentruck driver despite almost out-dragging Kiss as they approached the line.

Race 4

Antonio Albacete took the final race of the weekend at Circuit Zolder this afternoon to claim the second win of his 2019 FIA European Truck Racing Championship season.

The Trucksport Lutz Bernau MAN driver was able to overtake pole sitter Jamie Anderson at the Villeneuve chicane on lap five with a committed manoeuvre.

Albacete was then able to open a healthy gap over the chasing pack, who also hunted down Anderson, and the Spanish ace took the chequered flag 5.2 seconds ahead of second placed Andre Kursim.

Kursim scored his best result of the weekend in the Don’t Touch Racing IVECO with the runners-up spot after a weekend that saw him show impressive pace throughout.

Completing the podium was Rene Reinert who chased Kursim all the way to the flag and briefly overtook his fellow German on lap seven as the duo played out an entertaining duel. But Kursim fought back immediately and re-took the position instantly before holding on to the chequered flag.
