Verstappen on top, running Bottas, a breakdown for Leclerc

Max Verstappen [Red Bull] was the fastest in the first free training session before the race for the GP of Singapore at Marina Bay. The Dutchman was faster than Sebastian Vettl [Ferrari] by a good tenth of a second, and Lewis Hamilton [Mercedes] took third place.

A little over half an hour before the end, Valtteri Bottas is in 17. the bend with the toughest version of the tires completely lost traction and collided with the guardrail. Training was interrupted by a red flag, and the Finn, who finished training in fourth place, severely injured his car in a collision.

Problems have also befallen the winner of the last two races, Charles Leclerc, who finished 1st free training prematurely due to a gearbox failure.

Alexander Albon [Red Bull] took fifth place, with 1.2 seconds behind his team-mate, and Nico Hulkenberg in sixth [Renault] ).

The seventh time of the first free practice was set by Carlos Sainz [Mclaren], who was nearly two tenths of a second faster than his team-mate Land Norris.

Toro Rosso racers Daniil Kvyat and Pierre Gasly also completed the top ten.
