Mercedes coach Toto Wolff was, after a second free training session, very disappointed with his team's performance at the start of the race weekend before the race for the Grand Prix of Russia in Sochi.

Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton were noticeably slower in the first race day in Sochi than Max Verstappen and both Ferrari racers, and both silver arrow fighters struggled all Friday with problems with the balance of the Mercedes car.

After the end of the first racing day, team boss Toto Wolff was not the least pleased with Mercedes' form.

It is a very bad day for us because we were nowhere to be found. We are completely lost, and this is what has appeared on the track today. We have a lot of work ahead of us to compete with Ferrari and Red Bull over the weekend. I do not know exactly what is causing our problems. We may have relaxed too much, but our development is not as it should be.
