Former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan is convinced that Nico Rosberg has retired after winning the title 2016 because he knew it would be hard to beat his teammate Lewis Hamilton again in the future.
Rosberg unexpectedly retired after winning the World Championship and was replaced by Valtteri Bottas at the wheel of the Mercedes.
Unlike the German, Bottas has not yet managed to pose a serious threat in three years, while Hamilton has won three consecutive World Championship titles.
Eddie Jordan is convinced that Rosberg made a very deliberate decision:
“Nico is very versed. He retired, knowing that he would hardly ever beat Hamilton again. He wanted to leave at the climax and Hamilton, who for years to come racing excellently, did not offer the opportunity to give him back the punch. Lewis is exceptional and capable of absolute domination. ”
